"Wilson-Covington Construction Co. wins the 2011 Heritage Award- Institutional Category presented by Preserve Historic Forsyth for the Lloyd Presbyterian Church Restoration Project"
Wilson-Covington has been very fortunate over the years to become heavily involved in historic restoration projects across Forsyth and surrounding counties. We reconstructed 4 residences in Old Salem in the 1970s and 1980s when the museum was coming into its own. We continue to be very active in Salem on both museum and private structures. We have also worked at Bethabara, another Moravian settlement dating to 1753. Our experiences have ranged from 18th century structures including solid masonry and heavy timber framed buildings to 1950s contemporary and all styles in between.
We have a unique skill set at the company to call upon for these demanding historical projects as well as close working relationships with area experts in restoration, archeology, architecture, and woodworking. Our own craftsmen have the ability to duplicate shutters and other period architectural features. We also have the patience and caring that is vital to a true period restoration or reconstruction.
Wilson-Covington is a North Carolina Lead Renovation Firm and works under all guidelines created by the EPA's Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting Program Rule that became effective 22 April 2010. If you plan on contracting for any work on a structure built prior to 1978, it is likely that the work will have to be completed by a certified firm. Please feel free to contact Wilson-Covington for more information related to this new rule and how it may affect you.
